3 years ago I did a blogpost about the top 10 hottest guys in the (then 28) tv series that I followed. It got the most views I've ever gotten in my first year on blogger. Last year, I did another blogpost on this topic so it seemed only fitting to do it again this year!

LGBT+ For The Win...

...Rick Riordan does it again.
Afbeeldingsresultaat voor rick riordan
For those of you who don’t know who I’m talking about, here’s a quick update:
Rick Riordan is one of my top three favorite authors of all times. And for sure his series about the gods. I read his first series about the Greek Gods (Percy Jackson & the gods of Olympus), second series about the Romans (Heroes of Olympus), third series about the Egyptian gods (The Kane Chronicles) and just finished the 3rd book of the last series about the Norse gods (Magnus Chase and the gods of Asgard).

I really love his sense of humour in the books and definitely in all the chapter titles. That guy is really a genius. I would even recommend these books to my professor Creative Writing at school. He would love them, I’m sure!

Even after 18 (!) books and two cross-overs I’m still surprised about the content and the way Rick Riordan brought those “old” stories back to life in our world. For example: Hermes, god of thieves and commerce has a freaking phone. Poseidon, God of the Sea is walking around in Bermuda’s.
But the reason I’m writing this blog is something different.

In heroes of Olympus, there was a first mention of a gay relationship between Nico and Will. Back then, Gay was still something people had to get used too, it wasn’t very common. Even I hadn’t met someone back then who is gay until a few month before I read the book.

Fast forward 2018, being Gay isn’t that “weird” anymore. THE subject in (social) media nowadays is transgender and that, again, is still a big “no-no” in our culture. A lot of people still can’t wrap their heads around the fact that some people feel like they were born in the wrong body and want to do something about it.

Afbeeldingsresultaat voor gods of asgardNow, back to the book I just read, Riordan made a big step in teen-literature by adding not only transgender to the Magnus Chase books but making that transgender a gender-fluid character (someone who feels more like one gender one day and one gender another day) with a feisty persona.
Alex Fiero is not only a badass but a role model for every single girl, boy, unidentified persona, wrestling teen… out there. She/he teaches us it’s okay to be different to be who you are and to feel comfortable with yourself in the body you (want to) have.

Not only is Rick Riordan a great story teller he’s a writer who’s not afraid to put his ideas out there and write what his general audience wants to hear instead of his publisher & agent.
I believe that, whoever you are, whenever you read a book by Riordan, you will be changed for the better.

PS: sorry for the lack of Blogpost last week. I've been super busy but I will keep trying to get a post up every thursday!

Top 10 things I hate about (early) train rides

Hy guys!

Some of you probably know I'm still a student. I travel to and from school two times a week by train. During my first three years of college I almost used the train every single day. So it seemed fun to share 10 things with you I hate about taking the train! Keep in mind I take the train around 7 am in the morning and 6pm in the evening.

1) Noisy People
People who keep talking, very loud, when taking the train with friends. Turn on their music too loud,... I always have my headphones with me but even I keep hearing those people talking and I hate it.

2) Children who are too Hyper
I don't like taking the train during Rush Hour. A lot of children/young students are taking the train at those times and I just can't handle the hyperness of them. Stay on your seat, please, I beg you.

3) Breakfast eater
It's a reason it's called BreakFAST because you can eat it fast, in the home. I just can't stand people who eat their breakfast on the train. I don't have to know what you eat for breakfast. Thank you very much

4) Someone who wants to talk to me
..the whole freaking train ride. LEAVE ME ALONE I'm not a morning person, never will be. Shut up and leave me be. I do like to read on the train but I love listening to music while doing that. And if I don't have my music in the morning, it's better to stay away from me.

5) Too much people in one place
Again, I take early trains to avoid the Rush Hour crowds. Otherwise I get so annoyed.

6) Lookers... aka the people who keep staring at you
I don't know if it's on purpose or if they are just daydreaming but there's a reason I like to sit alone on a train in the morning. I don't like people in front of me and especially those who keep looking at what I'm doing. So Hatefull

7) People with an awful parfume
...Who decide you get to enjoy that for the next half hour for free.
Have you smelled yourself? No? ....

8) Delays
The most annoying thing when using the public transport, the delays! Waiting for a train that may or may not come soon...

9) Telephone calls that are too loud
YOU DON'T HAVE TO SHOUT THEY CAN HEAR YOU loud and clear at the other side of the phone call.

10) Cold TrainsTrains that aren't heated during winter. Oh my god. Please, let me out, I will run to school instead..okay not really but you get the point.Afbeeldingsresultaat voor cold inside train

My To Do List for 2018

Hy guys!

I thought it would be fun to share a little to do list with you guys this week :)
I'm sorry I didn't upload a blogpost last week but I was really, really busy and just couldn't find the time to write a decent one.

So, I give you my To Do List of 2018!

1) Get a new Twitter Bio on my personal account. I'm getting tired of seeing the same one every single day. I need a new twitter bio! Hit me up if you wanna help :)

2) Do Blogposts for Eurovision 2018, starting next month with a top 5! :D There is, at this very moment, only one song known for 2018 and I LOVE it. I do think there will be an overall genre this year... but that's something for the blogpost in March when we know all the songs!

3) Start writing my christmas posts in summer. Cause seriously, I never manage to post them all on time so I really need to start writing those sooner. Maybe even now. Let me know what you wanna see!!!

4) Take awsome pictures and get a new program to edit them. I'm thinking of changing to photoshop or Lightroom.. still researching those two.

5) Read a lot of books. There are two books on my nightstand since the beginning of january. I haven't started one of them. #ShameonMe

6) Make more to do's.
