What’s on my bookshelves (part 2)

Hy guys! (Dutch below)
A few months ago, I did a “what’s on my bookshelves (part 1).(http://belgiumgirlwithdreams.blogspot.be/2015/03/whats-on-my-bookshelves-part-1.html)  It got a lot of views so I thought to do a second part.
Third shelf
This is the shelf that changes the most. The authors stay the same but the books from the authors change a lot. (to be clear, we have a lot of shelves in our home so the books change between shelves (does that even make sense?))
note: the following books on my shelf are all in Dutch, even though most of them are translated from English
Currently on the shelf are:
1) Roald Dahl
with ‘Matilda’, ‘Danny the Champion of the World’ and ‘The BFG’.

When I was younger, I loved to read Roald. Now that I’m older, I still LOVE to read Roald Dahl :p. These books just never get old.
My favorite? I can’t decide between Matilda and Danny. Both are just too good.
2) Jonas Boets
with ‘Sam Smith en de Dragons’

I first talked about him (Jonas I mean) a few blogposts ago when I wrote about my favorite books from my childhood. He is without a doubt my favorite Dutch author. Sam Smith en de Dragons is the 5th book in the Sam Smith series and I really like it. Probably because it’s the only book that takes place in Belgium.
My favorite? Surprisingly not this one. No, my favorite from this series is ‘Sam Smith en the duivelskruid’
3) Suzanne Collins
with ‘Mockingjay’

Untill a few years ago, no one had heard from Suzanne Collins. But she slowly worked her way into our hearts and bookshelves.
Mockingjay is definitely my favorite book from the Hunger Games series. It’s just too good. (read = a lot of sarcastic humor => I LOVE that)
4) Rick Riordan
with the complete series of ‘Heroes of Olympus’

Yeah well, I love Rick Riordan, I love Percy Jackson, I’m a big fan of Greek Mythology. End. Of. Story.
Favorite book? Son of Neptune!
5) Mark Thijsmans
with ‘Het geheim van te veel torens’

I’ve read this book when I was 8 years old and never found it again. Untill a few years ago in the Library. Last year, I went to the book fair and got a signed copy of this book. Mark is one of the nicest authors I’ve met.
And yeah, that’s my favorite book :p
6) Thea Beckman
with ‘Crusade in Jeans’

Wasn’t one of my favourite books from the beginning but it really got close(r) to me when I grew up. Great book now I look back on it.
7) Marc de Bel
with ‘Blinker en de bakfietsbioscoop’ and ‘Blinker en het BagBag-juweel’

Two great books from when I was younger. It’s been a while since I’ve read them but love them.
8) Richard Adams
with ‘Watership Down’

Who hasn’t seen the tv series? I LOVED them! but the book is amazing too. It’s a bit crueler but the tv series was for kids.
9) Erin Hunter
with ‘Midnight’, ‘Moonrise’, ‘Dawn’, ‘Starlight’ and ‘Twilight’

I’m a cat lover and all those books (series 2 of Warrior Cats) are about, how did you guess it, CATS :)
10) John Flanagan
with ‘Lost Stories’

Again one of my favorite book series. If I could expand my shelf it would be on the same shelf as Eragon and Harry Potter. These books are just amazing for people who loved Eragon and HP too.
11) Sylvia Vanden Heede

I don’t remember much about this book. I do remember that I liked it. I even remember where I got it. But I really don’t know what it’s about again...
and last but not least (and currently on my nightstand)
12) Jana Frey
with ‘Het ijskoude paradijs’

If I want to read all night long (like the night before I leave on a holiday and have to get up at 4am) I pick this book. You just can’t lay it aside after two chapters. Well, at least I can’t.
bye!!
CU next week :)

Hoi allemaal!

daaag!
tot volgende week!

La Douce France

My favorite places to eat in and around Maillane (Provence).

Hy guys! I'm currently in France and I thought this would be a great time to write a blogpost about my favorite places here. It's my 19th year here so I probably can tell if something is good or not.

So, without further ado, here are my favorite places in The Provence!

1) (Le) Roma : Restaurant, Salon de thé & Artisan Glacier
You can probably guess it but ICE CREAM is a must in The Provence! Especially the ice cream you can buy at Roma. It can be a bit overpriced for some of you but it's totally worth it! They have a lot of different flavors from the normal vanilla and chocolate to lavender and Fleur de Lys(Lily)

Location
33 Boulevard Marceau
13210 Saint-Rémy-de-Provence

Site
http://www.restaurant-le-roma.com

2) L'olivier
L'olivier is a restaurant and pizza TakeAway in one. Besides the great pizza they have a lot of local dishes like duck and bull. The price isn't high. Especially when you would buy the same meal at any other place.

Location
Quartier Moulin D'aure
Zc La MarJolain 2 av Doct Pramayon
13690 Graveson

Site
https://plus.google.com/110933771995362037757/about?gl=fr&hl=nl

3) Le Relais de Costebelle
When I was younger we used to go to Tarascon for our dinner every night. When that closed we searched for a new place and we found one on the same route to our old restaurant. The chef and his wife became close friends but a few years ago the chef passed away and she left the restaurant. We went back a few times but it isn't the same (read = very good food for a very small price) anymore. Shame! But I'm not going to say that you shouldn't go. It's good but it's just not our home anymore. The price is okay still but it won't be the same like it was in 2011

Location
1433
route de Tarascon
13690 Graveson

4) Le Moulin Saint Bernard
For those who want to celebrate something, this is one of the two places I would go. The fish soup is very good. But actually, everything is good there. The price isn't that high but it's higher than in the places I already talked about.

Location
150
Route de Maillane
13210 Saint-Rémy-de-Provence
note: Le Moulin has been selled and taken over. Haven't been there yet.

5) L'Oustalet Maïanen
The second place I would go to eat if I had to celebrate something. Unlike the other one (Le Moulin) I would go here just once for a very special ocassion. The price is higher than any of the other ones (still just 40€ /menu XD) I've talked about but man, the food is AMAZING. Even the location is very nice and quiet.

Location
16 av. Lamartine
13910 Maillane

6) Un Bouchon en Provence
I just went here last week and I have to say, I was impressed. The food was good (don't ask for fries if that's possible... I don't know what their deal is but those aren't fries.). But what really stunned me was their Tiramisu with Red Fruit, just one word ; WOW. The place is located in the middle of the town so you don't have a lot of parking space if there's something going on in one of the cafés.

Location
2 Avenue Henri Barbusse
13630 Eyragues

There we go, my favorite places in The Provence for food.

cu next week! Anybody any idea what I should do next week?

Interview with....

One of the first people who read my blog and is one of my best friends!

Naam/Name
Naomi / Naomi ( i hear you pronounce it in english. Please don’t )

image

Beroep(Studies,...)/Occupation(Studies,...)
Sociaal werk / Social work
Favoriete dier/Favorite animal
een wolf / a wolf
Favoriete blogpost uit "Normal Belgium Girl With Dreams"tot nu (+waarom)/ Favorite Blogpost from "Normal Belgium Girl With Dreams" untill now (+why)
I love to read every post. Especially those who are talking about book series and harry potter. So If I have to choose I choose ‘Always’.(http://belgiumgirlwithdreams.blogspot.fr/2015/04/always.html)
Favoriete vakantiebestemming (+waarom) / Favorite Vacation Destination (+ Why)
Ja ik ben zot van pretparken  / I don’t really have a favourite destination. That’s why i would love to travel the world. See everything. Also, my opinion changes a lot. At this moment i would love to go to New York or Orlando’s amusement park because there they have the harry potter theme and attractions. Yes I’m an amusement park lover.
If you couldn't do something for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Telefoneren.
Phoning. I’m really clumsy. Especially in talking at the telephone. I always say weird or wrong things and I do find it uncomfortable to talk to people you can’t see. In real life you can see the non-verbal movements from the person you are talking to. And those are really important to me. Then I can see what the other person’s reaction is. Sadly I have to call a lot. This is part of the job I’m studying for ( yeah. You can see a problem there, can’t you?). At my internship I had to call to elderly people. Man that was difficult! If the phone rings at home I run to the toilet as fast as I can. Sorry can’t pick up now. ( then I help myself to an alliby). If my cellphone ( not my home telephone btw) rings I can see wich person is calling me. If it is a friend, I pick up ( I can imagine their reactions almost like the person is in front of me, with strangers I can’t).
3 varkens lopen over een brug, geef ze alledrie een naam / 3 pigs walk over a bridge, give them a name
Kevin, Bob & Stuart

First of all, thank you namitjuh aka Naomi for doing this interview!
Tot volgende week mensen! / Cu next week folks!

Finally spelled right! - Paper Towns Review

Hy everyone! (Dutch below)
Like I promised, I’m going to do a review of Paper Towns by John Green :)
(and before you really start, if you’ve read my ‘Girl Online’ review from February you probably recognize a few things I wrote in that post in this one.. sorry about that! But it just means that I thought the same things about both books...And I can be lazy sometimes)
If you haven’t read the book yet and you’re planning to read it, DON’T READ THE REST OF THIS POST!!!! ( not that many spoilers but hey, don’t say I didn’t warn you).
For those who continue reading this, WELCOME and enjoy this!
Let me know if you guys ( if you read the book already) thought the same things and what your favorite moments in the story were. And if you haven’t read the book but are planning to, after reading this blogpost, what changed your mind? Tell me! I really wanna know
Finally, I want to say that this won’t be a boring book report but an insight (in case you haven’t realized) in what I felt when I read the book and what my favorite moments were.
About the book itself
I had to look up the cover because I’ve read the book on my tablet so I didn’t have a cover to hold in my hands

image

But yeah, it’s a great cover and it really shows the whole story in just that one picture. :p (JUST READ THE BOOK!)
As far as I can tell from the ebook, the fonts are okay too, not special or something. It’s easy to read so it’s fine for me.

The Story=  ( This next part won’t be straightforward ( sorry to all my teachers :p ) but a concurrence(? I don’t know if this is the right word) of all my thoughts and feelings… sorry about that! )
So, about two months (I think it was two months ago? :s )  I saw a video on youtube by one of my favorite youtubers Brett Ball(https://www.youtube.com/user/TheBrettBall). He recommended this book. I rememberd that time that he already had mentioned the book in a previous video so I decided to give it a go. And I have to say, I liked it!
The beginning of the book reads really, really fast. And I say the beginning because near the end of the book, the story gets divided in these little chapters and that bothered me a bit... After I finished the story I asked Brett on Twitter if he had the same experience with the ending and he did...so it’s not just me :p
But hey, that’s my opnion :p
The thing that I liked most about this book is the main character..; if you can call her that. Margo Roth Spiegelman. Actually, she’s not the person you follow in the book, the real main character is Quentin but the book/story revolves almost completely around Margo. One of the reasons I like her is obviously because her name is spelled exactly like mine :p
That’s a first :p
But one other reason I really like her is the fact that she’s the rebel I always wanted to be. We are alike in a lot of ways but the rebel side of Margo is just soooo cool! Like the fact she actually takes revenge on people. I would just sit and think about the ways to take revenge rather than really taking it. So, to be honest, on some days I really would like to be her.
My favorite moments in the book (not in that order)
*The first time Margo climbes through Quentin’s window :p
*The road trip in general
*The abandoned office space
*When they had that little time to take everything they needed
*When Quentin got the call from his friends to pick them up from the after-prom party(and the part after that)
*When Margo took Quentin on a little trip around town
*Every time Quentin finds a clue Margo left for him.

So, I really hope I convinced you guys to read the book. If so, why? What changed your mind? :p
Bye! See u guys next week :)
X

Hoi allemaal!

Daag! Tot volgende week
X
