Let's go to futuristic London, shall we?

And to quote one of my first book reviews of last year, "The year has just started and I think I found one of my top 5 books of the year already". 

The last saturday of 2016, New Years Eve, I got a book titled "A Thousand Pieces of you" by Claudia Gray. (Thanks to my friends :) ) ... And before you go: oh she got a book, shocker.... I am someone who loves to read but have a very weird taste in books. But they've chosen very well... very well indeed because I started reading the following day and only needed two nights to finish it XD

IT WAS SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If someone would ask me what my favourite book genres are I would answer: "something romantic, fantasy, love triangle -ish but in a great place on earth that is preferably visitable...

And that book has it all. But really EVERYTHING....(well, except for that "visiting places part' but more of that later :p )

Finally, I want to say that this won’t be a boring book report but an insight (in case you haven’t realized) in what I felt when I read the book and what my favorite moments were. 

About the book itself

The cover is very colorful and I like the fact that it shows the cities that you visit alongside Marguerite. It isn't that different from other languages so that's a good thing too.

The Story=  ( This next part won’t be straightforward ( sorry to all my teachers :p ) but a concurrence(? I don’t know if this is the right word) of all my thoughts and feelings… sorry about that! )

I always liked authors who made up a whole new world with new things but also with things you can relate to in our own world... Like for ex. Harry Potter. We all love the whole new world with the magic, the fantastic beasts, Hogwarts,.... but the fun thing about Harry Potter is that Rowling kept a 'normal' part. The normal life in Privet Drive, the visit to the zoo,...(well okay, without the "falling through the window of the snake cage" - part XD) those parts keep us wondering if it would ever happen to us, if we would ever get our letter to Hogwarts...

But, making up a 'new world' isn't always that easy. Over the past years I didn't like the Divergent series. I was too young probably and I just couldn't relate to it. But over these past couple of months I've watched the 3 films that are out now and I've fallen in love with them! ( and a bit with Theo too but that's a story for another time XD)

My favorite moments in the book (not in that order)

* The love triangle. I mean, COME ON #goals XD (okay, maybe not...)

* Marguerite. I really like this heroine... Probably because I can see a lot of myself in her.

* The Firebird.. I always have to think about Felix (hp) when I hear this name... And a bit of that            medallion Tessa has in The Infernal Devices.

* Theo and his affection towards Marguerite . He sounds like the perfect guy for me too XD (really,      he's that bit nerdy but not too much.. ugh, you guys know what I mean)

* Marguerite's first trip to London. I love London in general and I loved the fact that I could follow        her through the city in my head.

* Russia. Just WOW.

* The flashbacks. They explain a lot but still have a lot of story in them too.. I know that isn't making     any sense but just read the book.

* The fact that I have no idea who Marguerite will choose at the end of the bookseries (I know I've        already read the second book but I'm even more confused now XD)

* Aunt Susannah's apartment & when Marguerite brings Theo "home" :p I was like: who is this              woman and where can I get one? XD

* The bad guy in the book, Conley... I'm still not sure if I should hate hime or love the character... or      both

Ik studeer Journalistiek aan de Artesis Plantijn Hogeschool in Antwerpen en hoop me daarna verder te specialiseren in modejournalistiek en/of reizen, daarnaast wil ik ook nog Chinees gaan studeren. Favoriete dier/Favorite animal :
Mijn favoriete dier is een tijger, of een luipaard… Moeilijke keuze! Ik hou van het patroon in hun vacht en dat maakt deze dieren zeker uniek, iets waar ik zelf ook altijd op zoek naar ben: Hoe kan ik mezelf als een uniek individu uiten? Daarnaast doet een tijger mij ook terugdenken aan leuke tijden met geweldige mensen (lees: SYTYCD 2015, hete tijger, …).

Ik vond de post over Paper Towns van John Green echt heel leuk! Persoonlijk is het een van mijn favoriete boeken, ik vind het een heel leuk verhaal en je raakt er helemaal in meegesleept. Daarnaast doet het me terugdenken aan de film, ik kreeg namelijk de kans om naar de avant-première van Paper Towns te gaan in Kinépolis Brussel en dat was een heel fijne avond.

Favoriete vakantiebestemming (+waarom) / Favorite Vacation Destination (+ Why) :
Dit is echt een heel moeilijke vraag! Binnen Europa is dat zeker IJsland, maar algemeen gaat mijn voorkeur uit naar Azië. Afgelopen zomer ging ik voor het eerst alleen, met het vliegtuig en buiten Europa op vakantie. Een heel avontuur, maar zeker een van de mooiste! China is een prachtig land met een schitterende cultuur. Jammer dat heel wat mensen een negatief beeld hebben over China, voor mij was het een onvergetelijke reis met geweldige mensen. Werkelijk adembenemend om een duik te nemen in de watervallen, ver weg van het drukke stadsleven. Deze zomer trek ik naar Thailand, ik kijk nu al uit naar het lekkere eten, de rijke cultuur en het prachtige land. Niet te vergeten de vriendelijke mensen met hun mooie lach. Volgend jaar hoop ik naar Seoul te kunnen of Hongkong of Japan (Tokyo, met die gekke Harajuku modewijken!) of Singapore of Nepal of … Doe mij maar Azië!

Als je iets voor de rest van je leven niet meer zou mogen doen, wat zou het zijn? / If you couldn't do something for the rest of your life, what would it be? :
Hmm… Nooit meer iets mogen doen, dan kies ik voor alcohol! Ik drink bewust heel weinig en heb daar ook absoluut geen behoefte aan dus dat zou ik zeker niet missen. Of nooit meer naar de gym hoeven gaan voor een bikini-proof lichaam.

First of all, HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

Second, I'm sorry for missing my first day of blogging yesterday XD It has been a very weird week.

I was planning on doing a bookreview today but I'm going to leave that untill next month and do the whole series instead of 1 book for that bookreview post. 

So I went online and searched for a booktag and found the New York Times 'By the book' Tag.

1. What book is on your night stand now?

There are (no kidding) about 9 books on my night stand right now ( comics not included) but I'm reading the Firebird series by Claudia Gray.

2. What was the last truly great book you read?

The last? A thousand Pieces of You by Claudia Gray :p

3. If you could meet any writer – dead or alive – who would it be? And what would you want to know?

J.K. Rowling. Without a doubt! I would ask her if she would go and drink a coffee or two with me and talk about Harry Potter :) 

4. What books might we be surprised to find on your shelves?

For someone who doesn't know me that would be the whole series of Warrior Cats... Otherwise "Een groene bloem trilogie" by Floortje Zwigtman. 

5. How do you organize your personal library.

On favorite author :) 

6. What book have you always meant to read and haven’t gotten around yet? Anything you feel embarrassed never to have read?

No not really.. I read every book I want to read at that point.... 

7. Disappointing, overrated, just not good: what book did you feel you are supposed to like but didn’t? Do you remember the last book you put down without finishing?

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. I know you can't really call it a book but it's just...idk, weird.

8. What kind of stories are you drawn to? Any you stay clear of?

Fantasy, mythology, romance, sci-fi, history, war and comedy are my favorites 

I stay clear of crime/detective books. Those are just boring. But, weirdly enough, I love crime series on the tv :p 

9. If you could require the president to read one book, what would it be?

HARRY POTTER. XD 

10. What do you plan to read next?

Hopefully the third book in the Firebird series, A Million Worlds without you.

Dear 2016

I fucking hate you.

Hy guys

I know, I know, it's been a while since I wrote something. I failed blogmas this year, that's for sure. But I've been sick and really was to tired to write something... On the bright side, I have a lot of ideas to write about next year :p So I'll make my blogposts for blogmas like Zoella does. 5 months before they actually have to go online XD

But yeah, over to this blogpost today. 2016 was for a lot of people an amazing year. They got a child, they got engaged, married, they went on a trip to who knows where. They had an amazing year.

Me? Not so much. I had a pretty awful year.

• After 3 amazing years of College in one of the best cities of Belgium I had to transfer schools because I kept failing some of my classes. 
• 
  
• My cat died in October. And I still miss her with all of my heart. 
• 
  
• My mom got diagnosed with lung cancer in February... Everthing went "okay" after that, she started treatment and in August she got cleared. In september we went on a vacation to Spain and her knee started hurting a lot. The same day (in october) we had to bring my cat to the vet because she was acting weird and got the news her body was giving up, mom got the news they found new tumors. One in her knee, lungs and brains. I will never forget the 25th of october 2016. Never.

• Since today 2 of my icons died. First was Sir Alan Rickman on the 14th of january. He was one of the actors that made me into the person I am today, a Potterhead. Second was Carrie Fisher who died today on the 27th of december. She played one of my favorite characters in Star Wars, Princess Leia. I wonder how they will explain her death in the next Star Wars movie. Maybe she will die of a broken heart? I don't know...

• And soooooooooooooooooo many musicians! I mean, come on! What on earth 2016? WHY???? 
• 
  
• For the first time in 21 years we didn't go to our usual vacation spot in France because of that third thing. And it was so weird. I wanna go back, I grew up in that place. 
• 
  
• Trump is president. Well.... I'm sorry for all my friends in America. This will be a hard 4 years for them. Let us hope it won't be that bad.

and I could go on for a while.

I really hope that, for these last 4 days of 2016, nothing bad will happen. 

2016, I still hate you. You won't be my favorite year. Never. 

My resolution for 2017? Having a fucking better year.

Blogmas day 6

Hoi allemaal!

Vandaag doe ik de kersttag :D 

Is het al bijna kerst? Hoeveel dagen nog tot het kerst is?

JAAAAAAAAAAAAA nog 19 dagen!!!!

Op een schaal van 1 tot en met 10, hoe erg kijk jij uit naar kerst?
12!!!! Zonder enige twijfel mijn meest favoriete feestdag! 

Wanneer zet jij de kerstboom op?
Vlak na Sinterklaas. Ik verlang al :D 

Hoe ziet jouw ideale boom eruit?
Het mag gerust eens iets anders zijn maar er kan volgens mij nog altijd niets op tegen een gewone traditionele kerstboom. En met alle vloggers die ik volg (zie blogmas day 1) kan ik niet meer wachten om mijn kerstboom op te zetten :D

Wat vind jij echt niet kunnen met kerst?
Dat die niet met familie gevierd wordt! Kerstmis en dan vooral kerstavond is voor mij een familietraditie en ik snap gewoon niet dat sommige mensen dat niet met hun hele familie of gezin vieren.

Wat voor outfit draag jij meestal met kerst?
Normaal iets meer feestelijker dan anders maar het mag niet té zijn. Een outfit voor kerstavond moet voor mij comfy maar fashionable zijn. 

Hoe ziet de kerst er bij jou over 25 jaar uit?
Samen met kinderen & familie vieren :) 

En tot slot: wat geeft jou nou echt het kerstgevoel? Heb je een traditie?

Ingredients

• 135g (5oz) unsalted butter
• 80g (3oz) caster sugar
• 80g (3oz) soft light brown sugar
• 1 egg
• ½ tsp vanilla essence
• 190g (7oz) plain flour
• ½ tsp salt
• ¼ tsp ground cinnamon
• ½ tsp bicarbonate of soda
• 100g (3 ½ oz) dried cranberries
• 60g (2oz) white chocolate chips (I find it works best when they are frozen!) 

You'll also need:

• A wire cooling rack
• 2 baking sheets
• Baking parchment
• Hand-held electric whisk or equivalent
• Baking tray

Method

• Preheat the oven to 170°C/325°F/Gas mark 3, and line two baking sheets with baking parchment.

• Using a hand-held electric whisk or a freestanding electric mixer with the paddle attachment, cream together the butter and both types of sugar, then break in the egg, add the vanilla essence and mix well together.

• Sift together the flour, salt, cinnamon and bicarbonate of soda, then add to the creamed mixture in two batches, mixing thoroughly in the mixer or by hand until a dough forms. Lastly stir in the cranberries and chocolate chips.

• Break off pieces of the dough (about 2 tablespoons in size), roll them into balls and place on the prepared baking sheets. Allow five or six cookies per tray, making sure to space them apart from each other (by 7-8cm/about 3in) as they will spread during cooking.

• Place in the oven and bake for 15-20 minutes or until the cookies are a light golden on top. Leave on the sheets for about 10 minutes to cool and set before transferring to a wire rack.

Vandaag geef ik jullie 3 series mee die jullie kunnen binge-watchen tijdens de kerstvakantie (of voor de studenten onder ons, tijdens de lesvrije week na de examens ;) )


Op 3 staat de heerlijke komedie 2 Broke Girls :D
Hilarisch, Girls ftw en gewoon ZALIG. Must watch!

Mijn tweede keuze gaat naar DC's Legends of Tomorrow (en met dank aan de crossover van deze maand ook naar The Flash, Arrow & Supergirl! - Die ik natuurlijk ook al volgde maar kom :p )
Voor mensen die net als mezelf fan zijn van supernatural series en wat historie, dit is dé serie om te volgen! Voor fans van superhelden zijn the flash, arrow en supergirl zeker een must!

Ten slotte en zeker een ZALIGE serie om te binge-watchen voor net dat tikkeltje meer kerstsfeer :D
GLEE! Meezingen is geen must hier maar een must DO.

Blogmas day 1

Hy guys and welcome to Blogmas 2016!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My days are not on point yet ( so ideas for blogposts are still welcome!)
but don't you worry! For the next 24 days ( AAAAAAAAAH 24 days untill christmas!!! :D )
you will get a blogpost every single day!

Today I'm just going to give you guys a list of who I'm going to follow for Vlogmas, like I did last year.

First up we have miss Zoë Sugg aka Zoëlla! 

It's just not vlogmas without her. Tons of decorations and christmas goodness for sure!!

As second in my top 3 I'm going to follow Jack Maynard (although I'm not sure he will do Vlogmas... we'll see :)  )

Third and last on the list : Mister Mark Ferris & Mister Joe Sugg :) 

Yeah, I can't choose between the both of them sooooo I'm going to follow both of them :p
